At LITECOM, we don't invest in gear to fill a shelf, we invest in tools that let lighting designers and rental partners say yes to bigger and braver ideas. The Martin MAC Viper XIP is exactly that kind of tool: a fixture that erases the old line between "indoor" and "outdoor" lighting. We've added it to the LITECOM inventory, and here's why it earns its place.
The legend, rebuilt as LED
The original MAC Viper made its name on the world's biggest stages. The XIP keeps the punch and the razor-sharp optics but swaps the discharge lamp for a 28,000 lumens out the front white-LED engine. Less heat, rock steady colours, and a 5-year light-engine warranty to back it up.
Weather ready without the penalty
Here's the part that changes how you plan a show. The XIP carries an IP54 rating for temporary, year-round outdoor use, using Martin's patent-pending XIP protection. The clever bit is what it doesn't cost you: none of the size, noise or weight penalties that usually come with weatherproof fixtures. It's a manageable 37 kg and runs as quiet as ~32 dB(A) in ultra-low fan mode. Happy in dust, wind and a Nordic drizzle outdoors, and quiet enough for broadcast and theatre applications.
A full creative toolkit
Nothing has been traded away when creating this fixture. The MAC Viper XIP brings CMY colour mixing plus variable CTO (2,850–12,850 K), a five-filter colour wheel, two rotating gobo wheels (seven gobos each), a four-facet rotating prism, an animation wheel, a full framing module (±30° blade angle across an ±83° range), variable frost and iris, and a 1:9 zoomfrom 5.7° to 54°. A 14-lens optical system keeps mid-air effects and gobo projection crisp edge to edge, and gobo light-recycling adds roughly 25% output when gobos are inserted.
Why LITECOM invested
Our job is to enable your vision, indoors or out. One fixture that can headline a rain swept festival main stage and drop into a controlled studio grid means fewer compromises, simpler rigs and more value for our rental partners: less duplication, less downtime, more of your budget on screen. And it integrates without friction, DMX, Art-Net, sACN, RDM and Martin P3 videomapping are all on board, with NFC setup from your phone.
